An Efficient File Hierarchy Attribute-Based Encryption Scheme in Cloud Computing

Project Code: 25P4U22

Abstract

This research proposes a novel Attribute-Based Encryption (ABE) scheme optimized for managing file access control in cloud environments. The scheme addresses the limitations of existing ABE solutions by incorporating a hierarchical structure for attributes, significantly improving efficiency in key management and decryption. This approach reduces computational overhead and storage requirements while maintaining strong security guarantees. Experimental results demonstrate substantial performance improvements compared to state-of-the-art ABE schemes, making it suitable for large-scale cloud storage deployments.

Introduction

Cloud storage offers scalability and accessibility but poses significant challenges regarding data security and access control. Traditional access control mechanisms struggle to manage complex access policies efficiently, especially in dynamic environments. Attribute-Based Encryption (ABE) provides a promising solution by allowing access control based on user attributes rather than identities, offering fine-grained control and revocation capabilities. However, existing ABE schemes often suffer from high computational costs and complex key management, especially when dealing with hierarchical file structures. This research aims to address these limitations and improve the efficiency of ABE for cloud file systems.

Objectives

  • Design and implement a hierarchical ABE scheme optimized for efficiency in cloud storage.
  • Reduce computational overhead during encryption and decryption compared to existing schemes.
  • Demonstrate the scalability and security of the proposed scheme through rigorous testing.
